About us
The Financial Consumer Protection Centers (Pénzügyi Fogyasztóvédelmi Központ) main function is to supply consumers with comprehensive and easy to understand information about the products and processes in the financial sector, and to handle consumer claims. The Financial Consumer Protection Center is an efficient consumer protection organization operating within The Central Bank of Hungary. It is the consumer friendly façade of the supervisory arm of the organization. Our motto is that every customer matters and they all matter equally.

File a consumer claim

If you need guidance relating to consumer finances, or you want to report unusual, potentially illegal activity in the sector, you can get in touch with us the following ways:

If you have filed a complaint at your financial institution and your complaint got denied or you got no answer in 30 days, you can file an official consumer claim. Send your request via postal mail to

Don’t forget to sign your claim, and attach copies of supporting evidence you have. (Your original complaint to the financial institution, their reply, the contract, etc.)

If your claim does pertain to contractual terms and obligations, you should make an inquiry to the Financial Arbitration Board of the MNB instead, which provides a free mediation service between consumers and financial institutions to reach an agreement without going to court.


The roles of the Financial Consumer Protection Center include: operating of the customer service center and the call center, the processing of written consumer claims and providing comprehensive information both directly and indirectly, via cooperating Civil Society Organizations and Government Service Centers.
Our goal is to strengthen the financial consumer protection, increase the level of financial literacy and to provide guidance for conscious financial planning ranging from household finances to mortgages.
